Let us teach the differences in vertebrate and invertebrate, warm-blooded and cold-blooded, turtles and tortoises in our unique presentation.  The Bobcat, the Vulture, and other wildlife native to our area help us teach children how to appreciate their own environment.

We have an extensive variety of animals involved in our program, including:

Mammals

Hamadryas Baboons   Kenya and Tanza perform a variety of tricks while students learn about primates and geography of Africa.

Ringtailed Lemur  Oliver  An amazing, endangered prosimian from Madagascar.

Coatimundi  Squeaky  A beautiful and amazing member of the Raccoon from Central America.

Binturong  Bubba  Sometimes called the Asian Bearcat, this arboreal mammal has a prehensile tail to assist it's movement through the trees.  These animals are native to Southeast Asia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Palaway Island, Burma, Indochina, Sumatra, Bangka, Java, Borneo, and Nepal. The Binturong is rare in its current range due to habitat destruction.

Giant African Crested Porcupine  Elvis  Africa's largest rodent.

American Porcupines  Harry and Rae  Learn how deadly those quills really are.

Patagonian Cavy  Willie  A long-legged, giant guinea pig from South America.

Arctic Fox  Arctic  The Arctic Fox gives us a way to demonstrate how animals use color change to camouflage in different seasons.

Fennec Fox  Cleopatra  Worlds smallest fox species.

Viet Nam Pot Bellied Pigs   Bonnie and Clyde  Miniature pigs that recently have become a popular house pet in the United States give us an unusual way to teach about the uses the medical profession has for pigs, and to interest students in the geography of Asia.

Mink

Chinchilla  A fur bearing animal now extinct in the Andes Mountains of South America.

Opossum  George Jones  North America's only marsupial really does PLAY POSSUM and has more teeth than any other North American mammal.

George Jones, the opossum that appears in the Animal Show comes with a great rescue story.

Holly Goble, a student at Susan Moore Elementary, found 7 baby opossums in her yard after their mother was killed by a dog. Holly raised the babies and released them when they were big enough to care for themselves. One of them would not leave, coming back to sit on the porch. They were afraid a dog would kill him and so the Gobles called Brian Blazer.  George Jones lives with the Blazers, he enjoys going to school and teaching children about opossums.

Thanks Holly for rescuing George and his siblings!

Insects

World's Largest Cockroaches  We add a special surprise from Madagascar that students will never forget:  Hissing Cockroaches.  Sometimes these cockroaches are used as pets!  Madagascar is certainly an island with a lot of educational potential as it houses so many unique animals found nowhere else in the world.

Also:  Owl Monkey, Armadillo, Kinkajou, Giant Lizards and more!

The animals we bring will vary so that it is a different program every year.
